The game Daxter gives the wisecracking ottsel his very own solo adventure, finally revealing what he was up to during the two years Jak was imprisoned at the start of Jak II. The story kicks off with Daxter finally escaping the dangers of Haven City, only to accidentally land a new job as a pest exterminator—a role the mysterious Old Sage felt he was naturally suited for.
Armed at first with just a simple fly swatter, Daxter soon upgrades to a high-tech spray rig that lets him stun enemies and even float on pockets of aerosol. Through his eyes, we learn how the sinister Metal Head invasion began, as they secretly infiltrated the city using swarms of bug-like creatures. Daxter’s arsenal gets even wilder with later upgrades, including a flamethrower and a powerful detonation gun.
His mission to break Jak out of prison sends him on a wild journey through a variety of locations, each packed with platforming challenges and combat. He’ll navigate a perilous high-speed transport system, sneak through a slimy fish cannery, and even infiltrate the heavily guarded Krimson Fortress, where stealth is key to saving his best friend.
The game is packed with extras that fans will love, including thrilling vehicle levels and minigames that feel right at home in the Jak universe. Some of the most memorable moments are the dream sequences, which cast Daxter as the star in hilarious parodies of blockbuster films like The Matrix, Braveheart, and The Lord of the Rings.
