Silent Hill Origins is a chilling survival-horror experience that uncovers the dark beginnings of the Silent Hill saga, blending terrifying atmosphere with classic PSP gameplay.
Silent Hill: Origins* serves as a chilling prequel to the iconic series, taking us back to the 1970s. You step into the shoes of Travis Grady, a lone truck driver trying to make up time on a late-night haul. His decision to take a shortcut through the fog-shrouded town of Silent Hill proves to be a catastrophic mistake.
True to the series’ roots, the town is a character itself, shifting between a grim reality and a terrifying nightmare dimension. The key to navigating this hellscape lies in crawling through mirrors—portals that act as gateways between these two twisted versions of the world. To survive and progress, Travis must scavenge for items to solve intricate riddles that block his path.
The monsters he encounters are straight from a fever dream; they are grotesque, warped reflections of human forms, each more horrifying than the last. For defense, Travis starts with only his fists but can arm himself with an array of close-combat weapons found in the environment. A key difference from earlier games is that these melee weapons will degrade and eventually break from use. He can also find a limited number of firearms and single-use items to throw at foes. Combat relies on a lock-on system to target these horrors.
The game immerses you fully by ditching a traditional HUD. Instead, the only warning that Travis is near death is a sickening crimson haze that bleeds into the corners of the screen.
