This version of the game is a unique experience, separate from the DS and Game Boy Advance titles that share its name. The story kicks off with Crash’s arch-nemeses, Neo and Nina Cortex, building a sinister machine that twists the island’s peaceful wildlife into monstrous mutants. These new creatures now pose a dire threat to everyone living there.
It’s up to Crash to put a stop to their scheme. His new strategy? He can “jack” the very monsters created by the Cortexes, turning their own power against them.
The gameplay expands on the classic formula. You’ll explore vibrant levels, collect power-ups, and for the first time, unleash combo-based attacks with punches and kicks. The biggest twist is the ability to hijack and command 15 different monsters, each with a unique ability like breathing fire or triggering earthquakes. The environment is your playground, letting you swing from ropes, climb trees, and even surf or skate across various terrains. Best of all, a friend can jump in at any moment with drop-in co-op play.
While the core game is the same across platforms, the experience differs slightly. The Wii version, for example, uses motion controls with the Wii Remote, and the graphical detail varies based on what each console can handle.
