FIFA Soccer 08 marks the fourth annual release of the franchise on the PlayStation Portable, building on its predecessor with new leagues, updated player rosters, and fresh gameplay modes—all while retaining the core features fans expect.

This edition boasts an expanded lineup, mirroring the content found on other platforms. It introduces leagues from Australia, the Czech Republic, and Ireland, raising the total to 30 national leagues, 43 international teams, and 20 all-star clubs from around the world. Familiar modes make a return, including Friendlies, Manager Mode, Tournaments, Wi-Fi Multiplayer, and minigames like Juggling and Wall Attack—all refreshed for the new season. Manager Mode now also allows friendly matches during the off-season.

A major introduction is the Interactive Leagues feature, previously exclusive to console versions. This mode lets players compete online with others using real-world league schedules, representing their favorite clubs in timely match-ups. Also new is the ability to create and use custom formations.

One of the most innovative additions is Football IQ—an engaging trivia challenge set on a virtual pitch. Each correct answer pushes the ball toward the opponent’s goal, while a wrong one sends it backward, risking a counter-attack. The quiz is structured in tiers, starting with questions based on local clubs and progressing through various international leagues.
