Dissidia Final Fantasy breaks away from the series’ traditional RPG format to deliver a dynamic fighting game experience, while still retaining the deep storytelling, character progression, and customization fans love. The game brings together heroes and villains from across the Final Fantasy universe—with two representatives from each main title—and pits them in a war between the gods Cosmos and Chaos. As a warrior of Cosmos, you’ll join forces with other protagonists to battle through Chaos’s forces and recover stolen crystals, with each character featuring their own story arc that must be completed to unfold the full narrative.
Beyond the story-driven campaign, Dissidia offers both Arcade Mode and Quick Battle Mode for more focused combat sessions. In Arcade Mode, opponents are selected automatically, offering a curated challenge, while Quick Battle allows you to handpick your match-ups. Progress is seamless across all modes: levels, abilities, and items earned in the campaign carry over everywhere, so a Level 12 Cloud in Story Mode remains Level 12 in Arcade Mode.
Loot collected during missions can be shared between characters, encouraging experimentation with different builds and strategies. By earning PP (Player Points) from victories and completed chapters, you can unlock additional content including alternate costumes, bonus villains, music, and artwork. This blend of fighting game intensity and RPG depth makes Dissidia a fresh yet familiar celebration of the Final Fantasy legacy.
