Inspired by the vibrant animated series, Marvel Super Hero Squad is a chaotic and fun beat-’em-up adventure designed for one to four players. The story kicks off in Super Hero City, where our colorful band of heroes must stop Doctor Doom and his newly formed Lethal Legion from gathering the fragments of a powerful ancient weapon—the shattered Infinity Sword. These fragments, known as Infinity Fractals, each contain immense power and grant unique abilities to whoever holds them. With the city at stake, it’s up to the Super Hero Squad to find the fractals first!
The gameplay is classic arcade-style action. Players can pummel foes with combos, unleash powerful super moves, throw objects from the environment, and target enemies for ranged attacks. The game offers two main ways to play:
Adventure Mode: Team up with a friend in this two-player co-op story campaign. You’ll battle through six different chapters to recover the Infinity Fractals, which in turn unlocks new and upgraded super abilities for your heroes. You start by choosing from a roster of fan favorites like Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Wolverine, Silver Surfer, and Falcon. Successfully completing missions even unlocks additional story arcs featuring characters like Spider-Man and Doctor Doom. This mode is all about cooperation, unlocking new costumes, and saving the day.
Battle Mode: For when you want to settle who’s the strongest, this mode lets up to four players duke it out in arena-style combat. You can choose to play as either a hero or a villain from a massive roster of over 20 characters, pulling from the Avengers, the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. The fighting system allows you to pull off combo attacks and even create your own custom combinations to defeat your friends.
It’s a lighthearted, accessible brawler that perfectly captures the energy and humor of the cartoon.
