As a local reporter in New York City, April O’Neil is hot on the trail of a major crime wave. Her investigation leads her to a shadowy pier one night, where she stumbles upon thieves unloading a container of banned goods. When she’s spotted, the story suddenly becomes personal—the criminals chase her down, intending to silence her for good. Just in time, she’s rescued by four mysterious figures: Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael.
To keep her safe, the brothers bring her back to their sewer lair, where April makes the shocking discovery that her saviors are, in fact, mutant ninja turtles. With crime in New York growing more brazen by the day, April decides to join her unlikely benefactors and help them take down the evil organization terrorizing the city.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on PSP brings that heroic fantasy to life, letting players step into the shells of all four turtles—each with their own unique weapons and abilities. The gameplay is fast-paced and varied. Depending on the map and difficulty you choose, your objectives will change dramatically.
Choose a city level, and you’ll leap across rooftops in classic ninja style, grabbing bonuses hidden in just the right landing spots. Multiple paths are available—the harder the route, the greater the reward. Opt for a suspension bridge stage, and you’ll balance carefully while battling enemies that appear without warning, where one wrong step could mean a fall.
It’s not all perfect—the graphics, while functional, rely on a darker color palette that can feel muddy and strain the eyes during long sessions. Some character details also feel dated. But if you’re a true Turtles fan, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise fun, action-packed tribute to the heroes in a half-shell.
