SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs – Fireteam Bravo was the first game in the series released for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). This tactical shooter supports both online and local multiplayer through the PSP’s Ad Hoc mode.
Unlike other shooters on the PSP, this game offers a unique “target lock” system for all weapons. Since the PSP only has one analog stick, you can use the R button to lock onto a target, which is especially useful for sniping. In addition to pistols and sniper rifles, you have access to a variety of grenades and other ballistic weapons.
Up to 16 players can join a match at the same time and communicate with each other using voice chat. While the graphics may not be the most advanced, the game makes up for it with a compelling main story and detailed sound design. Beyond the main campaign, there are also various side missions and extra modes to keep the experience fresh.
