Experience wild and chaotic action in Chili Con Carnage, a fast-paced adventure on PSP.
Chili Con Carnage is an action game for the PSP that is a “re-imagining” or semi-sequel to the PS2 game Total Overdose. While it reuses many assets and locations from the original, it’s been redesigned for handheld play, with a focus on shorter, more action-packed missions rather than the free-roaming gameplay of Total Overdose.
Gameplay and Story
The game centers on Ramiro Cruz, who is on a mission of revenge after witnessing his father’s bizarre death by a combine harvester. The gameplay is over-the-top and highly unrealistic, with gravity-defying moves, a “bullet time” mechanic, and a variety of unusual weapons. The game has a combo system where you are rewarded for chaining together stylish kills.
There are two single-player modes:
- El Gringo Loco: This is the main story mode, which follows Ramiro’s quest for revenge.
- El Macho: This mode is a collection of mini-games and challenges that have no story but let you play as different characters with their own unique gameplay styles.
Multiplayer
The game also features two multiplayer modes for local play:
- Hangman: A pass-and-play mode for up to four players on a single console.
- Fiesta: A Wi-Fi mode where players compete against each other for the highest score. It’s not a direct deathmatch; instead, you and your opponents play in the same level simultaneously but in separate arenas. Performing stylish kills in your game sends more enemies to your opponents’ screens, hindering their progress. The mode also includes power-ups that can be used to mess with your opponents, such as flipping their screen or making them drop their combo.
