Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 puts you in the boots of OSS agent John Berg during the intense Normandy invasion of June 1944. Across eight dangerous missions, you’ll go behind enemy lines with a critical objective: stop Hitler from launching his devastating V2 rocket program. The story unfolds through briefings featuring narrated voice-overs and still images, setting the stage for your operations.
The game delivers the classic first-person shooting action the series is known for, but the Wii version introduced a major innovation: an “Arcade Mode.” This on-rails shooting option makes the action more accessible by handling all the movement for you—all you need to do is aim and pull the trigger with the Wii remote.
For players who prefer traditional controls, the standard mode offers a new setup. You move with the Nunchuk’s analog stick, aim by pointing the Wii remote, lean with the Nunchuk, and fire with the B trigger. This version also introduces a handy Z-button lock-on feature for targeting enemies, and the whole experience is compatible with the Wii Zapper peripheral for an even more immersive feel.
The combat itself is more dynamic than ever. The developers packed the campaign with a variety of events and mini-games that make clever use of the Wii’s motion controls. You might find yourself twisting the remote to tune a radio (with the sound piping through the remote’s speaker), raising the Nunchuk to pump a shotgun, or planting charges by setting a timer with the remote. You’ll also get to operate mounted machine guns, blast enemies with bazookas and mortars, and carefully line up shots with the returning sniper rifle.
Beyond the single-player campaign, the game boasts a robust online multiplayer suite for its time. Supporting up to 32 players in a single match, you could jump into classic modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Infiltration, with many maps adapted directly from the campaign levels.
