MX vs. ATV Untamed is an off-road racing game that serves as an updated version of MX vs. ATV Unleashed. It combines elements from the previous game with new features like the “Crash Camera,” a slow-motion replay of spectacular crashes.

Gameplay and Vehicles

The game features a variety of vehicles, including ATVs and bikes with engine sizes from 250cc to 550cc, as well as monster trucks, dune buggies, and trophy trucks. There are also six different racing series to compete in:

  • Supercross
  • Nationals
  • Opencross
  • Supermoto
  • Freestyle
  • Rally

Players can also compete in the X-Cross tournament, a competition that combines all six series. You can earn sponsorships based on your performance, which will grant you better bikes. The game also includes mini-games like ATV hockey and Monster Truck Smash.

Version Differences

  • Console Versions: The console versions feature all six racing series and a career mode that allows you to gain sponsorships.
  • Wii Version: This version supports different control schemes, including the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, which use motion controls for steering and tricks.
  • Nintendo DS Version: This version is much more scaled back, with only ten unique courses and three stadiums. It features a championship mode, but it lacks the multiple series and vehicles of the console versions.
  • PSP Version: The PSP version is very similar to the console versions but has different names for some of its events and modes. The X-Cross tournament is called the MX vs. ATV World Tour. It also has a unique set of competitions, including:
    • Race
    • One-on-One
    • Time Attack
    • Stunt Challenge
    • Stunt Race
    • Hang-Time
    • Combo Challenge
    • Flag Challenge

All versions of the game support multiplayer. The handheld versions, including the PSP, support up to four players via Wi-Fi.
