Players step into the boots of Commander Calvin Hopper, leading a seasoned SEAL team on a critical national security operation. Their objective: locate and interrogate former KGB agent Vasyli Gozorov, who is suspected of possessing intelligence on an imminent WMD attack. Hopper’s team includes recent BUD/S graduates Sandman and Raven. While searching Gozorov’s office, the squad discovers a hidden weapons cache—only to be ambushed in a sudden RPG explosion. After fighting off the attackers and interrogating a wounded shooter, they learn he’s a member of the Koratvian Revolutionary Army, who reveals little more than the location of their base. From this point onward, the mission grows far more complex and dangerous.
The game sets a high bar for tactical shooters, blending sharp controls with deep strategic play across a series of lengthy, immersive missions. A major new feature is the ability to form a four-player squad, though the developers have balanced this cooperative edge with increased overall difficulty. The weapon system is another standout—offering a broad and customizable arsenal that lets players choose their preferred tools for combat, even in intense 16-player online matches.
Set across eight extensive campaigns in the fictional state of Koratvia, the game unfolds on large, enemy-dense maps that demand both caution and aggression. Missions vary from clearing hostile buildings and navigating narrow urban alleyways to advancing through snowy outposts and raging city battles. While objectives sometimes shift, the core goal remains the same: eliminate the enemy threat.
Combat often escalates into large-scale firefights and assaults on enemy strongholds. Weapon choice matters greatly—each gun has distinct attributes, such as effective range, that directly influence combat effectiveness. A shotgun, for example, won’t help you at long distances, encouraging players to think tactically about loadouts. The game offers subtle guidance, like recommending a rifle for engagements where keeping your distance is key, ensuring every decision in the field has weight.
