Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 is a tactical action game that continues the story of an elite group of soldiers known as the Ghosts. The story begins right after the first game, with Captain Scott Mitchell and his team sent to the U.S.-Mexico border. They must fight to contain a civil war in Mexico that threatens to spill into the United States. The conflict starts in the Mexican city of Ciudad Juarez and later shifts to El Paso, Texas, where the Ghosts must defend U.S. soil.

Technology and Gameplay

The game shows what a soldier’s life could be like in the near future. The Ghosts have advanced gear, including the ACU field uniform, a UAV reconnaissance drone, and the Mule supply vehicle. On some missions, you can also call in support from heavily armored M1A2 Abrams tanks and AH-64D Apache helicopters.

The user interface (UI) has been improved from the first game, allowing you to quickly switch between different camera views to better plan your strategy. The artificial intelligence for both your teammates and your enemies has also been enhanced, making the battles more realistic.

Multiplayer Mode

The game features a new multiplayer mode called “Recon vs. Assault”. In this mode, the Ghosts fight against Mexican military forces.

• Ghosts (Recon): The Ghosts have a technological advantage. They can use all the high-tech gear from the single-player campaign, including sniper rifles that can shoot through walls and show enemy positions on your heads-up display (HUD). A downside is that they cannot respawn after being defeated.
• Mexican Forces (Assault): To balance the game, the Mexican soldiers get a lot of heavy firepower, including powerful rifles and rocket launchers. They also have the advantage of being able to respawn after they are defeated.
