Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary is a full, ground-up remake of the original classic, rebuilt with a modern graphics engine and the fluid movement introduced in Tomb Raider: Legend. While it follows the same iconic story, it features expanded cutscenes, reworked dialogue, and beautifully reimagined versions of the original locations.
You’ll revisit familiar places in the same order, but each environment has been redesigned with new layouts and entirely fresh puzzles that take advantage of Lara’s expanded moveset—like rope swinging and using a grappling hook.
Puzzle-solving now emphasizes acrobatics and precision platforming. You’ll spend less time hunting for keys or pushing blocks and more time leaping between ledges, shimmying along cliffs, and pulling off complex aerial maneuvers. Combat stays true to the original but requires manual aiming. Boss fights are now distinct set-piece encounters, often requiring puzzle-solving and the new “adrenaline dodge” move—a slow-motion evasion used when enemies enter a enraged state. Some sequences also incorporate quick-time events for cinematic intensity.
The Wii version includes motion controls and features several puzzles exclusive to the platform, offering a unique way to experience Lara’s first adventure.
