Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce – A New Take on an Old War

Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce is a unique installment in the long-running series, based on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. While it features many of the same characters from Dynasty Warriors 6, the gameplay has changed quite a bit.

Instead of fighting across huge battlefields, you begin in a home village or hub. From here, you choose missions and head out to fight. As you complete story missions, you can unlock new characters to play as.

Customization and Combat

Your character can be customized in several ways. In addition to a main weapon, you can equip a sub-weapon and switch between them at any time during a battle. A new feature called the Chi system lets you equip four Chi items on your character’s arms and legs to gain specific skills. You can also customize weapons by adding Orbs that grant new powers, like elemental damage.

The village acts as your home base where you can:

  • Buy equipment, items, and Chi skills.
  • Find NPCs who offer special items or “Officer cards” that help your village grow.
  • As you play, better items will become available in the shops.

Missions and New Features

Missions are picked up from a quest board or a guard at the village gate. Each mission has a specific goal, such as “Defeat the Commander” or “Recover all treasure boxes.” You’ll fight through multiple small areas filled with enemies until you reach the enemy leader. You can also earn bonus experience points by completing side objectives within a mission.

Two major additions to the combat system are:

  • Aerial Battles: You can now fight enemies while in the air.
  • Fury Mode: This new mode replaces the traditional Musou gauge. When your Fury gauge is full, you can activate it to temporarily boost your stats, improve your move set, and use a powerful Musou attack.

The game also adds new giant monster-like weapons that require you to team up with other players to defeat them. You can play with up to four players using an AdHoc connection.
