Set in a gritty 1930s underworld, The Godfather: The Game follows Aldo Trapani, a young man drawn into a life of organized crime after a tragic family loss. When his father, Johnny Trapani, is murdered during a Barzini family hit, a young Aldo is taken under the wing of Don Vito Corleone himself. Vito promises that one day, Aldo will have the chance to avenge his father. Years later, in 1945, that time has come. Now a member of the Corleone family, Aldo is trained in the brutal ways of the mafia—learning to extort, intimidate, and fight his way to the top.

This open-world action-adventure drops players into the role of Aldo Trapani as he rises through the ranks of the Corleone crime family. Played from a third-person perspective, the game allows free exploration of a noir-inspired city where you can engage in everything from street fights to shakedowns. While the core mechanics will feel familiar to fans of open-world crime games, The Godfather sets itself apart with its unique combat and targeting systems.

Combat is gun-focused, featuring period-accurate weapons like the .38 Snub Nose, Magnum revolver, and Tommy Gun—alongside throwables like Molotov cocktails and dynamite. Players can choose between manual aim or a sophisticated lock-on system. When locked on, a targeting reticle appears, narrowing over time for greater precision. This system allows you to aim at specific body parts: knees, shoulders, or the lower abdomen. Hit a knee, and your enemy collapses, unable to run. A shot to the shoulder disarms them. Striking the lower abdomen stuns the target. Each shot tells a story—each bullet, a choice.

But being a gangster isn’t just about shooting—it’s about control. To earn respect and climb the family ladder, you’ll need to strong-arm local businesses, extorting protection money and expanding Corleone influence across the city. Your actions shape the story, opening new opportunities and enemies alike. Will Aldo Trapani become the man Don Corleone believes he can be? And will he finally exact revenge for his father? The streets are waiting—and they belong to those willing to take them.
