Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft is a 1998 action-adventure game for the PlayStation developed by Core Design. The story begins in Antarctica, where a corporation called RX-Tech is excavating a meteorite crash site. The meteorite is found to have powerful, gene-altering properties, and four crystalline artifacts were crafted from it by ancient Polynesians. The artifacts were lost over time, but their location was recorded in a sailor’s journal from a voyage with Charles Darwin.

You play as the famous archaeologist-adventurer Lara Croft, who is hired by a scientist from RX-Tech named Dr. Mark Willard to find the four meteorite artifacts. Her quest takes her to a variety of exotic locations around the world, including a temple in India, the South Pacific Islands, London, and the Nevada Desert.

Gameplay and Features

Tomb Raider III maintains the core gameplay of the series, with a focus on platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat.

• Movement and Exploration: You guide Lara through complex levels with a wide variety of moves, including running, jumping, climbing, and swimming. The game also introduces new moves like a sprint and monkey swinging.

• Non-linear Gameplay: A major new feature is the game’s non-linear structure. After completing the first level in India, you can choose to travel to either the South Pacific, London, or Nevada in any order before finally making your way to Antarctica.
