Join Rayman in his wildest adventure yet in Rayman 3 – Hoodlum Havoc, featuring new abilities, quirky humor, and fast-paced platforming fun.
Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc is a 3D platformer played from the third-person perspective, continuing the adventures of Rayman as he attempts to save his friend Globox and defeat the evil Dark Lums.
Plot and Premise
- The Crisis: Rayman’s companion, Globox, accidentally consumes Andre, the Lord of the Dark Lums.
- The Conflict: This angers the Hoodlums, who intend to reclaim their master at any cost.
- The Mission: Rayman must discover a remedy to free Globox from the Dark Lord’s control. Globox and Andre remain with Rayman throughout the journey, providing commentary.
Gameplay and Mechanics
- Core Abilities: Rayman uses his jumping and punching abilities to navigate brightly colored stages.
- Primary Weapon: Rayman’s main attack is his fist, which can fire projectiles. These projectiles become more lethal when the fist is charged by holding the “shoot” button.
- Level Progression: The game is divided into worlds, each with a few stages. After each level, a minigame in a psychedelic setting (surfing along light beams) must be completed before moving on.
- Power-Ups (Costumes): Rayman encounters power-ups that temporarily grant him unique abilities, which are always required to defeat bosses or progress the story:
- Green: Shoots tornadoes.
- Blue: Grants a grappling hook.
- Yellow: Gives the ability to fly for a short while.
- Orange: Shoots precisely guided missiles.
- Red: Grants a mighty fist that can bash doors.
- Teensie Rescue: Rayman can track down and release captive Teensies. In return, the Teensies will remove the next section of the map or provide goodies. Rayman’s health gauge fills up slightly with every six Teensies freed.
Extras and Connectivity
- Unlockables: Finishing the stories with a high score unlocks funny animations and minigames.
- GBA Link: The GBA version features a link port to play unique minigames on the GameCube and GBA, and to download new GBA levels.
- Rerelease: The original game was ported to PS3 and Xbox 360 with high-definition visuals and added nine shorter games.
