Tenchu: Fatal Shadows is an Action game that follows two elite ninja, Rikimaru and Ayame, of the Azuma Clan. The story focuses on Ayame’s journey after a tragic mission and her alliance with a new character, Rin.
Plot and Characters
- Prequel Events (Rikimaru’s Fate): The game references an earlier mission where Rikimaru and Ayame rescued Princess Kiku from Lord Mei-Oh. During the escape, Rikimaru was caught in a rockfall while saving Ayame and the Princess and is now presumed lost.
- Ayame’s Mission: After peace returns to Lord Gohda’s realm, Ayame continues her role as an agent, monitoring the territory.
- The Mystery: Ayame discovers a demolished ninja hamlet. The last word spoken by a dying ninja is “Kuroya,” pointing to the culprit.
- Rin’s Introduction: Ayame’s path is blocked by Rin, a young ninja woman who returns from training to find her village destroyed. Rin initially blames Ayame for the destruction, as she believes Ayame is the only other survivor.
- Alliance: Rin eventually realizes Ayame is innocent. The two ninjas then work together to identify and bring the true perpetrators to justice.
