Sonic Riders is an arcade-style racing game that takes the Sonic series into the world of air board competitions. The game’s story begins with Dr. Eggman challenging Sonic and his friends to a Worldwide Grand Prix, with a rare Chaos Emerald as the top prize.
Gameplay and Features
The core of the gameplay is racing on high-tech “air boards.”
- Air as Fuel: A key mechanic is the “air” system. Your board’s fuel source is air, which you must manage carefully. You can replenish your air by going to specific points on the track, performing tricks, and, most importantly, by using the “turbulence” created by racers in front of you. This encourages players to stay close to opponents.
- Characters and Boards: Each playable character has a unique board with different performance characteristics.
- Special Moves: Sonic and his friends can use special, character-specific moves to attack opponents and gain an advantage.
