Xenosaga Episode III – Also sprach Zarathustra is an Action-Adventure Role-Playing Game (RPG) and the final installment in the Xenosaga series, focusing on a massive, galaxy-spanning decisive conflict.

Plot and Characters

  • Story: Set one year after Episode II. Protagonist Shion Uzuki resigns from Vector Corporation after discovering a link between the organization and the catastrophic Gnosis event. She embarks on an independent investigation.
  • New Character: The KOS-MOS project is terminated, and a new, unknown android named T-elos appears to take her place.
  • Goal: Shion and her allies are preparing for the decisive conflict of all time to determine the fate of humanity.

Gameplay and Features

  • Battle System: The fundamentals carry over from previous episodes, but the structure is closer to the first game.
    • Combat Modes: Features two modes of conflict: fighting in human form and piloting enormous robots (Gears).
    • Mechanics: Includes core Xenosaga concepts like Ether attacks and the Boost Gauge.
    • Simplification: The intricate break system from Episode II has been dramatically simplified. The administration of weapons and equipment is brought back.
    • New Strategy: A specific bar is introduced for each party (player and enemy); once full, it renders them unable to move, adding a strategic layer.
  • Robot Combat: Robot fighting is featured more extensively and is a significant aspect of the game, with the Gears having a greater variety of attacks.
  • Minigames & Editor: Features sixty puzzle-based minigames and a puzzle editor allowing players to create and share unique puzzles with friends.
  • Database: An in-game database contains information on all locations, people, items, and monsters.
